YouCaster (operated by Jiawei An) ("we", "our", or "us") operates the YouCaster mobile application ("App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

  • Subscription data: When you purchase a subscription, a purchase token and product ID are sent to our server solely to verify your Pro access with Google Play. We do not receive your name, email, or payment details.
  • Support communications: If you contact us by email, we retain that correspondence to resolve your issue.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Usage data: We collect anonymized analytics about feature usage, session length, and crash reports to improve the App. This data does not identify you personally.
  • Device information: Device model, OS version, and app version are collected for debugging and compatibility purposes.
  • YouTube channel data: Channels you add are stored locally on your device. This data is not transmitted to our servers.

1.3 Information We Do Not Collect

  • Precise location data
  • Contacts or call logs
  • Browsing history outside the App
  • Payment card details (handled entirely by Google Play)

3. Data Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share data with:

  • Google Play / Firebase: For authentication, crash reporting, and analytics.
  • YouCaster API (self-hosted): Our backend service fetches public YouTube channel metadata and streams on your behalf. No personal data is sent to YouTube.
  • PostHog: For anonymized product analytics and feature usage tracking.
  • Legal authorities: If required by law or court order.

4. Data Retention

YouCaster does not have an account system and does not store personal data on our servers. Your channel subscriptions, listening history, and preferences are stored locally on your device and can be deleted at any time by clearing the App's data or uninstalling it. Anonymized analytics data collected by Firebase and PostHog is retained according to those services' respective retention policies.

5. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Delete your personal data ("right to be forgotten").
  • Restrict or object to certain processing.
  • Data portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format.
  • Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.

6. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

7. Security

We implement industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your data against unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction. However, no internet transmission method is 100% secure.

8. International Data Transfers

Your data may be processed in countries other than your own. We ensure that such transfers comply with applicable data protection laws and that appropriate safeguards are in place.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy in the App or on our website. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

YouCaster (operated by Jiawei An) opera la aplicación móvil YouCaster. Esta Política de Privacidad explica qué información recopilamos, cómo la usamos y tus derechos al respecto.

1. Información que Recopilamos

Información que proporcionas: Al comprar una suscripción, se envía un token de compra e ID de producto a nuestro servidor únicamente para verificar tu acceso Pro con Google Play. No recibimos tu nombre, correo ni datos de pago.

Información automática: Análisis de uso anonimizados e información del dispositivo. Los canales de YouTube se almacenan únicamente de forma local en tu dispositivo.

No recopilamos: ubicación precisa, contactos, historial externo ni datos de pago.

2. Uso de la Información

Usamos tu información para proveer la App, verificar suscripciones, mejorar el rendimiento, responder soporte y cumplir obligaciones legales.

3. Compartición de Datos

No vendemos tu información. Compartimos datos con Google Play/Firebase, el servicio backend de YouCaster (autoalojado, obtiene metadatos públicos de YouTube sin enviar datos personales), PostHog (análisis de productos anónimos) y autoridades cuando sea legalmente requerido.

4. Retención de Datos

YouCaster no tiene sistema de cuentas y no almacena datos personales en nuestros servidores. Tus suscripciones a canales, historial de escucha y preferencias se almacenan localmente en tu dispositivo y puedes eliminarlos en cualquier momento borrando los datos de la App o desinstalándola. Los datos analíticos anónimos de Firebase y PostHog se retienen según las políticas de retención de cada servicio.
